Terms that are learned in Hakuoki that involve Sano. Well they are at least the entries I got playing and ending up in Sano's ending.

Aizu Domain
One of Japan's more influential clans. They were related by blood to the Tokugawa clan, and were put in chare of the office of the Kyoto Military Commissioner.

Battle of Ikeda Inn
The incident wherer the Shinsengumi troops raided the Ikeda Inn to halt a plot to kidnap the Emperor and burn the city of Kyoto.

Chikage Kazama [1]
A very skilled man with apparent ties to the Satsuma Domain. His extreme strength and prowess with swords rivals that of the best Shinsengumi swordsmen.

Chikage Kazama [2]
A man with ties to the Satsuma Domain who claims to be a demon. He has a very specific interest in the heroine.

Choshu Domain
A domain governed by Takachika Mouri, an Opposition daimyo. Most members of this doamin were nationalistic imperialists during the early part of the Bakumatsu period, and later attempted more directly to overthrow the shogunate.

Choshu Expedition
A military expedition by the Tokugawa Shogunate against the Choshu, who the attacked imperial palace and subsequently became enemies of the court after the Hamaguri Rebellion.

Enemy of the Court
A traitor of the court. Often used to refer to rebels.

Furies [1]
A creature with heightened speed and strength, and the ability to heal from almost any wound. Drinking the Water of Life will transform a human into a fury. One must stab a fury through the heart or remove its head in order to truly kill it.

Fury Corps
A secret division made up of men who have become furies. Sometimes referred to obliquely among the Shinsengumi as "the Corps."

Fushimi Magistrate's Office [1]
A goverment office that supervised the Fushimi Station and the Yodo riverbank, which was one of the seven entrances to Kyoto.

Genzaburo Inoue
Captain of the Shinsengumi's 6th division. A native of Edo, he studied swordplay with Kondou, Hijikata, and Okita. He is sometimes called "Gen" by his friends.

Guardian of the Shougun
A position created during the Bakumatsu period to assist whoever held the office of shogun.

Hajime Saito [1]
Captain of the 3rd Division of the Shinsengumi. He is a native to Edo. He wields his sword in his left hand, and fights with incredible skill.

Hamaguri Gate
One of the western gates of the imperial estate, it is protected by the allied forces of Aizu, Kuwana, and Satsuma.

Hamaguri Rebellion
The incident wherein the forces of the Choshu Domain fought the shogunate and the Shinsengumi near Hamaguri Gate in an effot to reagin power in the government after they were expelled.

Headquaters [1]
The headquarters of the Shinsengumi. It was located in the Mibu area, and was where the members lived and took their meals.

Headquarters [2]
After leaving Mibu, the Shinsengumi relocated their headquarters to the Nishi Hongwanji temple.

Heisuke Toudou [1]
Captain of the Shinsengumi's 8th Division, he is from Edo. He is the youngest captain, and is known for being particularly energetic.

Hokushin Itto [1]
A sword style that was popular in Edo during the Bakumatsu period.

House
Refers to the domain or clan that a samurai serves. Can also be used, after a fasion, to refer to the specific person a samurai serves.

Iemochi Tokugawa
The 14th Tokugawa Shogun. He married the sister of Emperor Komei to show a desire for Imperial Unification, and was popular with the emperor and the vassals.

Ikeda Inn
One of the several locations the nationalist group claiming to support the emperor would gather.

Imperial Estate
The emperor's residence.

Imperial Nationalist Party
A term for the pilosphical and politcal leanings of those who wanted to see the emperor as the supreme administrative power for Japan and also hoped to remove foreign influences from the country. Also known as the Sonjo faction.

Imperial Unification
A political movement that sought to unify the upper echelons of the shogunal and imperial class. Iemochi Tokugawa married the sister of the emperor as part of this movement.

Imperialism
A term for the philosophical and political leanings of those who wanted to see the emperor as the supreme administravtive power for Japan, in place of the shogun.

Isami Kondou
One of the founders of the Shinsengumi, an organization created to help keep the peace in Kyoto. He is originally from Edo.

Kaoru Nagumo [1]
A girl who the protagonist saved while out on patrol with Okita and Toudou. She bears a striking resemblance to the protagonist.

Kashitaro Itou [1]
Military advisor and deputy commander of the Shinsengumi. He is the head of the Hokushin Itto dojo, and loyal to the emperor.

Katamori Matsudaira
The 9th generation daimyo of the Aizu Domain, he holds the position of Kyoto Military Commissioner.

Keisuke Sanan [1]
A colonel in te Shinsengumi, he is a native of Edo. he is essentially a consultant to the chief of the Shinsengumi, Isami Kondou.

Keisuke Sanan [2]
He was officaly recorded as being deceased, when in fact he drank the Water of Life and became a fury. He is in command of the Fury Corps.

Kimigiku [1]
An oiran (courtesan) of the tenjin rank (the second-highest rank) in the Shimabara red light district of Kyoto.

Kodachi
Orignally a short katana, by the end of the Edo period it referred to a large wakizashi. It was usually worn as half of a pair with a larger sowrd, such as a katana.

Kodo Yukimura [1]
A Dutch-educated doctor in service to the shogunate and the father of the protagonist. He has been missing since shortly after his arrival in Kyoto.

Kuge Gate
What is now know as the Inui Gate at Matsuyama Castle.

Kuwana Domain
Domain governed by Sadaaki Mastudaira, the Kyoto Judiciary Comissioner./p>

Kujo Beach
Near what is now Kanjin Bridge of the Kamo River.

Kyo Shiranui [1]
A man with incredible skill, he is connected to the Choshu Domain. His gunplay is very impressive, and takes the Shinsengumi by surprise.

Kyo Shiranui [2]
A person who associates himself with the Choshu Domain. He claims to be a demon.

Kyoto Judiciary Commissioner
A shogunate administrator whose role was to oversee the daimyo, sttle law disputes, and supervise the city. The position was occupied by Sadaaki Matsudaira during this time period.

Kyoto Military Commissioner
A position to which one was appointed by the shogunate. The person holding this office was tasked with keeping peace in the city of Kyoto. It was occupied at one point by Katamori Mastudaira of the Aizu Domain.

Kyuju Amagiri [1]
A highly skilled individual connected to the Satsuma Domain. He specializes in fighting bare-handed, and has power and skill that clearly surpass that of many members of the Shinsengumi.

Kyuju Amagiri [2]
A mysterious person involved withe the Satsuma Domain. He claims to be a demon.

Lieutenant-General of Aizu
The position held by the lord of the Aizu Domain. Katamaori Matsudaira was appointed to it by the shogun after earing the rack of Lieutenant-General of the Left Guard.

Loyalism
A term for the philosophical and political leanings of those who supported the shogunate.

Maekawa
A samurai family who owned the estate adjacent to the Yagi family. They also allowed the Shinsengumi to house troops on their estate.

Mibu
A settlement west of Kyoto. It was comprised of homes, farmhouses, and a single temple.

National Loyalism
A term for the philosophical and political leanings of those who supported the shogunate and adcocated for the expulsion of foreigners from Japan.

Nationalism
A term for the philosophical and political leanings of those who wanted to remove the foreign influences from Japan.

Nijo Castle
A castle built by the Tokugawa shogunate to house the shogun while he was in Kyoto.

Nishi Hongwanji
Another name for the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji temple in Kyoto. It allowed the Shinsengumi to make the temple their headquaters for a period of time.

Notice Board
A board to notify the public of establised laws regarding specific people of affairs.

Oiran
A term for courteasans during the Edo perid, specifically those in the Yoshiwara district of Edo and of high rank. The higher rank of the oiran, the more wealthy and powerful their patron had to be.

Page
An assistant to a samurai or noble, traditionally a young man.
