⚜ Symbolism: Colors

Paint it Black
Black is a color that means quite a bit. Mystery, power, control, fear, depression and lots of other meanings as well. Black is also used as a mourning color in some cultures and places. Taking a closer look at the color black it is used to hide things. The color represents mystery: "is secretive, keeping a lot buried inside, unwilling to show its real feelings". I feel that suits Lulu as she doesn't really talk about her feelings much. She doesn't say that Chappu's death broke her heart or how Yuna's pilgramage is doing the same. She keeps quiet and goes along. It also represents power and control over self and others. Also creates fear. Well Lulu certainly does have some power over Wakka and Tidus because they are a little afraid of her because she is short tempered. Lulu also keeps herself in check, doesn't show her own emotions.
Effects of the Color Black
- Formal, dignified and sophisticated: As in the little black dress and the formal dinner suit.
- Aloof: Black sets itself aside from others with its heavy and intense energy. It keeps others at arm's length.
- Depressing: Black can close us to the positive aspects of life, forcing us to look at our disappointments and the black or negative aspects of our life. It can create a fear of the future.
- Pessimistic: Too much black encourages us to look at the negative side of life.
These also suit Lulu as she is aloof, seems depressed and pessimistic but yet she looks elegant. I say she pulls black off very well. I don't know when she started wearing black but she could be wearing it in mourning for Lady Ginnem or Chappu or both. There are a lot of keywords that go with black that also go a long with her personality. Both positive and negative.
Dance in Purple
I consider purple to her her aura color rather than her main color. Purple is said to be the color of good judgment, seeking spiritual fulfillment and if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. It's also used in meditation. Lulu does have good judgement and I feel she might be seeking some type of spiritual fulfillment or answers due to the loss of two loved ones. Purple also symbolizes magic and mystery as well as royalty. Black mages have powerful magic and are generally mysterious as well, so this being one of Lulu's colors isn't all that surprising. It suit her rather well as a magic user.
Looking a little deeper into purple it also goes along with her personality much like the color black. Purple and violet are displayed together as one is more vibrant than the other. But generally the same thing. Some effects of purple/violet are empathy, controlled emotion, dignity and cynical. Lulu shows some of her bad sides with her good. She is cynical but she is also loving. I think she is balanced.
