"A glorious tale of a LEGENDARY man named Groose and his girl, Impa."

water colors and flailing

Skyward Sword Box Art "Long ago, on a dark day, the earth cracked and evil forces rushed out of the fissure. These forces mercilessly attacked the people of the earth, slaughtering them and destroying their land. They did this in search of the ultimate power, a power capable of granting any wishes of its holder. This power, passed down from the gods of old, was guarded by Her Grace, the goddess of the land. The goddess gathered the surviving humans on a piece of earth and sent it skyward, beyond the clouds. With the humans safe, the goddess joined the land dwellers and fought the evil forces in a war of unmatched scale and ferocity. They eventually sealed the evil forces away, restoring peace to the surface. However, the humans remained in Skyloft, as Hylia knew that the seal on the evil would not hold forever." (Description by Zelda Wiki)

So that's were Link comes in. Due to fateful events, Zelda, Link's best friend falls out of the sky and Link goes after her. And one time Groose goes with him (much to Link and possibly the player's dismay). After a bit Groose realizes he is in Link's way and must become a better man. With Grannie's (Grannie is the old woman at the Sealed Temple) help and Link's support, Groose is able to be of use against the Imprisoned. He builds the Groosinator and helps Link fight the Imprisoned, the two keep him sealed and protect the Temple and Grannie. Later on Groose and Impa watch over Zelda together. Groose even gives up his quest to be with Zelda because he knows he could never be there for her like Link was. All the more reason of why he should be with Impa! (Seriously, guys. This couple is awesome. Like Nabooru and Ganondorf.....if he wasn't a power hungry jerk...that's what fanfiction is for right? RIGHT? Maybe? Guys?) Really Link and Groose are buddies and they save Zelda. Lots of character development is happening guys.

♥ First in Series?

extra thoughts!

Skyward Sword was made to be the first in the Legend of Zelda series but I read that it might not always be the first when future games come out. I have no idea how they are going to swing that considering the events of this game. Unless, it's Hylia's fight against Demise. I really don't want to spoil too much for those who having finished or played Skyward Sword. Maybe Hylia is dreaming of something that could happen before the events of Skyward Sword? Dream times have been done before. And Levias does remind me of the Wind Fish (in fact I'm pretty sure it's one in the same. Not backed by Nintendo, it's my personal belief). Hopefully it won't be like future Link goes way back in time to a time when the Goddess is out and about. That's too much time travel. Ocarina of Time did it quite well. Let's leave the time travel there. I'm really curious about what other games are going to come from this. Impa always makes an appearance somehow, but I'd like to see Groose again. Link does need a bro, since Zelda can't always be there. So come on Nintendo, bring an incarnation of Groose to be Link's buddy!

♥ My Thoughts

of Skyward Sword

It's really fun to play and I totally like using the classic controller more. I was forced to use the Wii Motion Plus Remote (mine was gold because we got the collector's edition that came with the wii motion plus thing, so that was a bonus) and nunchuku. My arms would get tired because I had a tendency to panic and flail. I overall enjoyed the game and most of the characters. Ghirahim, honestly made me MISS Gannon so much. Ghirahim is just so creepy and not in the cool way, it is the super creepy oh my God why is this happening creepy. See, not good. I really missed Gannon and his piggyness. I liked Zelda and Link portrayals. Sassy Zelda is great. And to be perfectly honest I didn't like Groose or Impa at first. I was super excited to see Impa but then she got all mad at Link (me) and then I didn't like her until the Temple of Time. Groose I didn't start to like until he spent more time with Grannie in the Sealed Temple and then somewhere Groose and Impa became my secondary OTP for Legend of Zelda. I don't like Fi either, I tried. I think I'm too Midna bias. And did I mention I really really don't like Ghirahim. He is just terrible. I nearly ragequit a few times too. But I kept at it.

My darling sister, Snow, was my navigator through the game. We couldn't switch off like normal because of camera angles and that made it difficult. But we got through it and had lots of fun and panic attacks. The panic attacks were mine because of the Silent Realms. I mean come on who does that to another person? It's just way to cruel. I really hope Nintendo never does that again, my heart can't take it. But the Silent Realms were done perfectly. Soft blue tones and music while you are safe, Harsh reds and doom music when the guardians are chasing you down. It's terrifying! Overall good, makes the top 5 list, it would have a higher replay count for me if not for the Silent Realms. If you own a Wii and like Legend of Zelda, I'd say go play it.

Gonna warn you, Silent Realms may give you a heart condition (or at least make you feel like you have one). Lizardflos are jerks and your arm may get tired from flailing. Sit in a space that gives you plenty of flailing room. You'll have to go through areas more than once and Goddess Plumes are a pain to get. OH AND GHIRAHIM IS A CREEPY BASTARD WHO NEEDS TO KEEP HIS TONGUE IN HIS MOUTH BEFORE I CUT IT OFF! And that's about all I can think of. Oh and Fi may get really annoying, really fast. Have three hearts left; don't click the Fi button, she'll just tell you that you need to restore your hearts because they are low. There are people who like Fi and that's cool. I'm not really a fan. Just wanted to warn you about her. AND you'll need a Wii Motion Plus Remote.
