Do you have what it takes to win the Nimbus Badge?Mikari and Snow both had the pokemon idea and so I'm going along with it. I've picked some Pokemon that I thought suited Sage and not just type either. That's right the Halo Gym doesn't have a specific type! Dragon, electric, psychic but most of all GRACE. You're in for it now.

Gallade is a psychic/fighting type. I chose him because he is psychic and that fits with Sage's mentalism. Gallade's pokedex entries say "A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights using extending swords on its elbows. Because it can sense what its foe is thinking, its attacks burst out first, fast, and fierce." This entry is another reason why I chose Gallade, he even fights like Sage does. Calm and cool but when sent into a rage it's a blind fury of cuts. Oh and Gallde wears green like our boy. I think Gallade fits in style and grace.
Altaria is dragon/flying type. Altaria was chosen because of the cloud like appearence. It was supposed to represent the armor of halo sometimes traslated as nimbus. So I thought that it fit. Also being half dragon type suit because of Date Masamune the One-Eyed Dragon, Sage's ancestor. Pokedex entry says "On sunny days, it flies freely through the sky and blends into the clouds. It sings in a beautiful soprano. It flies gracefully through the sky. Its melodic humming makes you feel like you're in a dream." Because of the grace and humming, it reminds me of Sage and the bamboo flute. This is why I chose Altaria who I mistaking called "Altamira" last night.
Ampharos is strictly electric type. Sage uses electricity in his super attack. Pokedex entry "The tail's tip shines brightly and can be seen from far away. It acts as a beacon for lost people." Sage also acts as a beacon of light, so people can find there way. He brings light to people and I think they suit each other. Ampharos is also yellow like Sage's hair. I picked Ampharos as terms of being a guide, a way to light people's path. To protect them from the darkness (and Gym Leader Kale who has dark/ice Pokemon, totally a rival gym leader).
Dragonair is dragon type only. Again this is a salute to Date Masamune. Though Dragonair also has a beauty and grace. Pokedex says "If its body takes on an aura, the weather changes instantly. It is said to live in seas and lakes." Sage can sense auras and I don't think he can change the weather but with the new armor he might have new abilities. For me, Dragonair and Sage are great for each other. For a time Sage lived by a lake. So close enough? I mostly picked Dragonair because I wanted him to have a dragon type that was graceful.
Dedenne is electric/fairy type and the only one like it currently. One of a kind, like Sage. Really. Light based and uses lighting/thunder attacks. Kinda fits. Okay, I wanted something cute and fairy type is kind "light" type. Maybe? Maybe the Pokedex with help "It uses its tail to absorb electricity from power plants or from outlets in houses, and then it fires the electricity from its whiskers." And "Its whiskers serve as antennas. By sending and receiving electrical waves, it can communicate with others over vast distances." Seems like rewording. But Sage uses his sword in a similar fashion. He uses the sword and thunderbolt cut like Dedenne uses his whiskers and tail. Okay, okay, it's mostly just cute. But still useable!
Espeon is psychic type and if it was anything else with that it'd be too power. Power level OVER 9,000 type powerful. Espeon uses the sun to heal, which Sage also does and cures Ryo's blindness. Espeon aslo looks graceful. Pokedex mentions "Its fur is so sensitive, it can feel minute shifts in the air and predict the weather...and its foes' thoughts. The tip of its forked tail quivers when it is predicting its opponent's next move." Since Sage has trained a lot, he can also sense his opponent's moves. I feel that Sage and Espeon have similar traits in battle and since there is not light type, psychic or fairy would work in place of. And shiny Espeon is green like Sage but this Espeon isn't shiny but that's okay.
Jolteon is electric type! Wait, what? Only six pokemon are allowed? Well, this Jolteon is a reserve member! I couldn't decide between Espeon and Jolteon and then I got it in my head that I didn't have to pick one. Jolten can take the place of any other pokemon in the team, like be rotated in or out. HA! Work around. (Take that Gym Leader Kale!) And the pokedex "Every hair on its body starts to stand sharply on end if it becomes charged with electricity. It accumulates negative ions in the atmosphere to blast out 10,000-volt lightning bolts." Again, it's similar to Sage's thunderbolt cut. So battle wise and attack type suit Sage. Also Jolteon hair is yellow and spikey much like Sage's own. Shiny form is also green.
